My story

Hey, I’m Randy

So, coffee. I’ve been drinking it since I was fifteen — that was back in 2012 — and like most people, I started out just grabbing whatever was on the shelf. I worked my way through the big brand names, one after the other, figuring that a different label meant a different coffee. Turns out, it mostly doesn’t.

After a while it just wasn’t cutting it anymore. Not the freshness, not the taste. So I did the obvious thing and started buying more expensive coffee, assuming that would fix it. It didn’t — at least not right away. I had no idea I was supposed to be looking at the roast date or the roast level, so honestly, some of those pricier bags tasted worse than what I’d left behind. Eventually I figured out what to look for.

Then I started buying whole beans and picked up a simple hand grinder. Wow. That’s when things really changed. And I don’t just mean for the fancy brewing methods — even a regular coffee maker gives you a noticeably better cup when the beans were still whole ten minutes ago. If you take one thing from this, take that one.

After that I got curious and went down the rabbit hole: French press, pour over, Moka pot, AeroPress, a few different coffee makers along the way. I still enjoy trying all of them.

But here’s the thing I noticed. No matter what I tried, I always came back to the same kind of coffee: balanced, bold but not bitter, a medium roast with notes of cacao and something fruity underneath. And fresh. Always fresh — never something that had been sitting on a shelf for months.

So that’s when it hit me. How cool would it be to source the coffee myself, from small farms, roast it locally, and get it to people who care about the same things I do? Good coffee, and coffee that’s actually fresh.

And that’s where Randy’s Coffee started.

It’s for both kinds of coffee drinker: the one who just wants their coffee maker to turn out a genuinely good cup, and the one who wants whole beans, a grinder, and room to get creative with it. I’ve been both — so whichever one you are, this coffee is for you.
